jewel1Jewelery care is very important for women because jewelery is vey expensive. Remove all jewelery before taking a shower or cleaning.     Soap can cause a film to form on jewellery making it dull. Grease can be removed from plain gold jewellery by dipping it in plain alcohol. Keep your jewels clean.  Care for them at home as well as take them to the jeweller for periodic cleanings. Always store jewellery in separate pouches or wraps. Don’t stuff them into your jewellery box. Overcrowding could mean misplaced gems or lost jewellery if a small piece falls unnoticed from the case. You could even inadvertently bend a fragile piece or chip a delicate stone.

Never leave jewellery in a hotel room.  Keep it in the hotel’s safety deposit box when you are not wearing it.  Home Jewellery CleanersCheck with your jeweller prior to using a commercial cleaning product for the first time.  Dispose of any such cleaner after 3 months. A home solution of one part mild detergent, one part household ammonia, and three parts water is also effective.  Dry the jewellery with a lint-free towel. Protect your gold jewellery from dust, moisture
perfume, hair spray and make-up. Never wear your jewellery before applying make-up. Instead wash your hands and after completing your make-up and then put on your jewellery.

Rings, regularly worn, need periodic cleaning to remove the film caused by cosmetics, soap, and skin oil that may cloud the ring’s beauty–.  Diamonds, for example, have an affinity for grease and literally collect oils in dishwater.
Remove rings before routine household chores and clean rings regularly. Avoid wearing jewelry while swimming in a swimming pool. The chlorine can cause damage to various gemstones and gold.  Gemstones may become loose in their settings (and possibly fall out).

Avoid storing your jewellery next to a heating vent, window-sill or on a car dashboard.  Store jewelry away from sunlight as the sun may fade the gemstones.  Remove dirt build up on diamonds by using a non-abrasive detergent and a soft toothbrush.  How to Clean Sterling Silver with a Matte Shine. While this is not recommended for everyone, you can dare to use this method for a more antique look to your jewelry. At times, a jewelry piece is characterized by having a combination of a high polish & shiny look with a matte finish or a somewhat dull antique style. If you are interested in lessening the high shine of your polished piece, you can soften

Its shine with a fine steel wool (as used on wood between varnish coatings) to provide with an antique look.  However, if you dull it too much, you can polish it back to its shine with a soft cleaning cloth or baking soda.  Do be mindful that steel wool can cause mild abrasive marks on your sterling silver, thus causing the matte look.  Thus, use this method ONLY on spots that you would like to have a matte finish at.
